Teen Robbed While Trying To Buy Marijuana, JCSO Says

A Johnston County man called authorities after he was allegedly robbed while trying to buy marijuana.  The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating.

The 17 year-old Kenly teen said he called an individual last Friday to buy marijuana.  The suspect took his money for the drugs but didn’t provide him with the marijuana at the time.

On Sunday, the teen called the suspect again asking for his marijuana.  The teen said he was told to pick up the suspect near Kenly and they would drive to Smithfield to pick up the drugs.

While on the way to Smithfield, the teen said he was told to stop in the area of North Johnston Middle School on Oil Company Road in Micro.  After stopping his car, the suspect acted as if he was armed with a handgun and demanded the victim hand over his cell phone. The suspect then punched the teen in the face, took the cell phone, then fled on foot.

The teen didn’t get his marijuana but luckily was not injured.

Detectives have been assigned to the case and are following up on leads.
