Teens Injured After Pickup Overturns

FOUR OAKS – Two teenagers were injured after a pickup overturned Thursday night in the 4800 block of US Highway 701 South.

Trooper M.C. Raynor said the truck ran off the roadway, struck a mailbox and ditch before overturning. The 18 year-old male driver and a 16 year-old female passenger were transported by Johnston County EMS to WakeMed for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper Raynor estimated the truck was traveling 85 mph in a 55 mph zone at the time of the single vehicle crash. Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

Charges are pending.

The Strickland’s Crossroad’s Fire Department also responded to the scene.
