The Lassiter family, which owns The Farm, a concert and wedding facility between Selma and Micro is expanding.
Johnston County Commissioners have approved a rezoning request on Lynch Road at Highway 42 East of Clayton for a second location of The Farm.
The 14,000 square foot building will be located on a 16 acre tract of land, which is just east of Flowers Plantation. Flowers Plantation did object to the facility.
“We at The Farm are very excited to announce that we are building a second location, The Farm at 42,” Trent Lassiter said in an email. “This has now been in the works for months and we are so happy to finally be able to share the good news with everyone.”
“This venue will be similar to our existing location and will include an outdoor wedding pavilion, but it will also have a separate, smaller room with a capacity of about 100 people – perfect for birthday parties, wedding showers and more,” Lassiter stated.
The new location will seat up to 500 people for weddings, corporate events, family reunions, and the like.
Several people spoke in opposition of the rezoning at a public hearing a month ago but that was before Mr. Lassiter appeared at Monday night’s county commissioners meeting and put a name to the project.
Commissioners did request Lassiter reduce the closing time from 2amuntil 1am, which was a part of the approval. Developers must also work on the alignment of a driveway on Lynch Road so headlights from cars leaving at night will not shine on any houses across the street. There will be no direct driveway onto Highway 42.
An opening date for The Farm at 42 was not announced.
