SMITHFIELD – Police are investigating a theft at the Red Cross office on South Third Street in Smithfield.
The theft was discovered Sunday night by a Red Cross volunteer who notified Smithfield Police.
Someone forced entry into an enclosed trailer on the property and stole 60 Red Cross blankets. The blankets were being kept to distribute to those in need during disasters and emergencies.
