Thief Steals Generator Used For Hurricane Florence Response

During the peak of Hurricane Florence about 38,000 customers were without power in Johnston County.

CenturyLink used numerous generators around the county to power their equipment to provide telephone service immediately after the storm.  Officials said someone stole one of the generators that was being used to power phone equipment on Shaw’s Pond Road in the Bentonville community south of Four Oaks.

The suspect cut a chain and padlock to steal the gas powered generator.  The thief even stole the chain and lock.

The property was valued at $660.  The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
