The Third Street Eatery event, also known as Third StrEATery, will return next month. The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation will hold the outdoor dining event every other Friday beginning on May 7th and ending on July 30th from 6:00pm until 9:00pm in the 100 block of South Third Street.

Tables and chairs will be set up in the street to provide additional dining space for restaurants on Third Street. People can consume wine and beer on the street and sidewalks within the event area. The Town does not have to obtain any special ABC permits. ABC licenses held by each individual business within the block is all that is required.

Attendees will not be allowed to bring alcohol from outside into the event area.

DSDC officials anticipate over 100 people attending each event. Two off-duty Smithfield Police officers will be hired by the DSDC during each event.

Downtown retailers in the 100 block of S. Third Street will be permitted to set up tables and tents to sell their merchandise. Other activities will be included including interactive inflatables, water wars and mobile axe throwing, according to the DSDC application.
