Have you ever wanted to own a fire truck? This is your chance. The Town of Smithfield will be selling two used fire trucks recently declared surplus.

A 2001 American LaFrance American Eagle fire engine, known as Engine 1, was in service until a few weeks ago, according to Fire Chief John Blanton.

A 2003 American LaFrance American Eagle ALS pumper truck, formerly Engine 2, has been out of service for more than a year due to computer and electronic issues. Electronic parts to make the repairs are no longer available.

Chief Blanton says the department may put a reserve on both fire trucks. The fire department will remove all firefighting equipment and town markings from the trucks before they are released to the highest bidder.

If you bid high enough you can own your very own Smithfield fire truck. Both fire trucks will be sold as is. Payment must be made in cash or certified chief within 5 days of the close of the auction.

The fire trucks will be sold on GovDeals.com. The auction will begin as early as April 19th, 2021.
