CLAYTON – Two vehicles collided Wednesday afternoon causing one to burst into flames. The fiery crash was reported around 5:20pm at the intersection of Highway 42 East and Glen Laurel Road.
One person in a silver SUV and two people in a burgundy Ford were injured. The occupants in the Ford were able to escape from their wrecked car before emergency crews arrived.
The Clayton Fire Department responded and extinguished the burning vehicle. Johnston County EMS transported the injured to the hospital. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
Clayton Police are investigating the accident.
Traffic delays were reported for more than an hour on Highway 42 East until the accident was cleared.
