Tire Blowout Blamed For I-95 Tractor-Trailer Crash

DUNN, N.C. — A section of Interstate 95 near Dunn, an area known for frequent accidents, was the site of an early morning tractor-trailer crash Monday.

The single vehicle collision occurred near the 75 mile marker when a steering tire on the semi-truck blew out, causing the vehicle to veer into a Jersey barrier before leaving the roadway and traveling up an embankment.

The driver was not injured.

The impact destroyed all of the passenger-side tires on both the tractor and trailer.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Dunn Emergency Services responded to the scene.
