Two bids have been awarded by the Smithfield Town Council for upgrades and repairs.
The council has awarded a $14,800 bid to Mark Gregory Roof Company to replace the mausoleum roof in Sunset Cemetery. Mark Gregory Roofing was the low bidder. Best Inc. had submitted a bid of $36,406 and Baker Roofing $31,108.
The council also approved a $49,787 bid to David Hinton Construction Company of Middlesex for construction of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Trail and Accessible Parks Handicap Parking. The 1,520 linear foot concrete trail will be built around the DAV building, adjacent to the Smithfield Recreation & Aquatics Center property. It also includes a 1,600 square foot exercise area.
The bid also includes upgrading handicapped parking at Talton Park, Gertrude Brady Johnson Memorial Park, Bob Wallace Jaycee Kiddie Park and Smith Collins Park. First Choice had submitted a bid of $66,014 and Hollins Construction $88,886.
