The Smithfield Town Council has awarded a bid for a new tractor for the Public Works Department. The council authorized a $127,832.02 bid to Quality Equipment in Smithfield for a John Deere 6105E cab tractor and 22 foot boom mower.
The current tractor is more than 20 years old and needs replacing.
The Town had previously authorized funds for the purchase in the current fiscal year budget.
