ARCHER LODGE – The Town of Archer Lodge has hired Jenny Martin as their first Human Resources Officer. She was also oversee Town Clerk duties. Her official title will be Human Resources Officer/Town Clerk.

Ms. Martin was sworn in September 6, during the monthly town council meeting by Mayor Matt Mulhollem, as her father, Jamie Hill, held the Bible.

“I am excited to be here, and I am thankful for this opportunity! This is my home! I can’t wait to see the growth of Archer Lodge, and I’m going to do whatever I can to make it a smooth transition,” Martin said.

Jenny was born and raised in Clayton. She graduated from Clayton High School and then from Meredith College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Concentration in Human Resources. Jenny has earned two certifications in Human Resources: Professional in Human Resources; and Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional. She has just over nine years of Human Resources experience, five years in the private sector and a little over four years in the public sector.

“The Town of Archer Lodge is extremely fortunate to have Jenny join our team, and excited for her to start the first Human Resources Department, which means our staff is growing like our population,” said Kim Batten, Finance Officer and Assistant Town Administrator. “In addition to those duties, she will also “wear the hat” of Town Clerk which is one of the most important position in all municipalities! My new role with the Town is Finance Officer and Assistant Town Administrator in the absence of the Town Administrator.”

“Regarding staff growing, the FY2022-2023 budget includes four new full-time hires: Human Resources Officer/Town Clerk, Parks & Recreation Director, Parks Maintenance Specialist, and a Town Administrator, but her position was first and foremost. Jenny’s been busy getting HR set up to advertise the other three positions in the upcoming months.”

“Regarding her clerk duties, she attended her first NC Association of Municipal Clerks Summer Conference held last month in Asheville, NC where she met other new clerks and was recognized as the newest clerk at the conference. She’s going to be a great asset to the Town and having been born and raised in Clayton, she was very familiar with the Archer Lodge Community and upholds those same morals/values that’s been established in this community,” Ms. Batten said.

Jenny Martin previously worked for the Johnston County Government – Human Resources Department.

    • Archer Lodge isn’t large enough yet to support a police department and the crime in the area doesn’t warrant an urgent push for it.

      • Think about that the next time one of your citizens is waiting 45 minutes for a state trooper to come to a wreck. Think about that when someone is breaking in your home and the closest deputy is at 40/42 or in Smithfield. Pull the number of wrecks and JCSO calls in your city limits and you’ll be surprised. You needed a police department yesterday.

    • Go buy a AK-47 and do the job of protecting your family yourself. ANTIFA and DEFUND THE POLICE are only in Ashville NC for the time being and are not forecasted to be in this area for another year.
