CLAYTON – The Town of Clayton has received the 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Bronze Award for Digital Media from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest non-profit organization serving economic developers with more than 4,300 members.
This award celebrates Clayton’s custom interactive map, which enhances the experience of both residents and visitors in the downtown area. The project impacts more than 25,000 residents and highlights key features such as our local businesses, public parking, parks and public squares, art installations, restaurants, bars, and retail.
“Clayton is truly on the map! We are thrilled to get this national recognition, honoring our work from such a prestigious organization,” said Communication Director Nathanael Shelton. “It highlights our commitment to providing innovative tools that showcase all the wonderful things that make Clayton special.”
The interactive map serves as a user-friendly guide to Downtown Clayton. It supports the Town’s goal of boosting economic growth and building community connections. This project makes it easier and more fun for visitors and residents to experience Clayton. The mobile-friendly map works in concert with new wayfinding signage throughout the downtown area. Visitors can access this map online or on signs (via QR Code) throughout Downtown Clayton, including near public parking areas.
“The map is designed with simplicity in mind,” Shelton adds. “We wanted to create a convenient tool that helps people explore all that our downtown has to offer. It’s about making Clayton accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”
