Town of Kenly – Coronavirus Update – March 18th

From: Town Manager Michael Douglas

As we continue to make changes to our daily activities, the Town of Kenly will adjust its daily activities to further ensure the safety of its employees and residents. Effective March 18th, the following temporary changes are intended to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus and reduce residents’ concerns about utility collection and suspension of services.

We encourage you to pay your utility account via one of our alternate methods. Pay through the mail; put a payment in the drop box; or pay online at www.townofkenly.com. The online payment option charges a small fee. Payments received in the drop box before 5:00 p.m. will be processed for the date the payment was received

We do have a Draft option. Payment of your utility account can by authorized through bank draft by completing the Bank Draft Authorization Form. To complete the setup, we will need a voided check from the account or a letter from your bank that includes the routing number and account number from which you wish to pay your utility bill. The exact amount due drafts on the due date, which is currently the 8th of the month. Should this date fall on a weekend or holiday, the draft occurs on the next business day. THERE IS NO FEE FOR THIS OPTION AT ANY TIME!

Cutoffs of utility service are suspended from March 20, 2020 through April 19, 2020 as well. We encourage you to keep track of your balance as the amounts must be current once the cutoff moratorium is lifted in order for your service to continue.

We cannot stress enough that if you have any symptoms to please stay home and use an alternate form of payment.

We would like to encourage our citizens to please contact us directly if you are experiencing a financial hardship during this time.
