Town Of Selma To Apply For $1.15 Million Grant

The Town of Selma will be seeking a $1.15 million Community Development Block Grant.  Town officials are seeking the funds to extend sewer lines to Rick’s Mobile Home Park on Ricks Road plus improvements to a pumping station.

The project would include adding 1,450 linear feet of 8 inch gravity sewer lines to serve the mobile home park plus 3,650 linear feet of 8 inch force mail to reroute the pumping station discharge directly to the Johnston County sewer system, generally along Ricks Road and Crocker Street.

The town held a Public Hearing at their September 8th council meeting and agreed to apply for the grant from the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources.  The town must apply for the grant before a Sept. 30th deadline.

In October 2012, the Town of Selma received a $500,000 grant to rehabilitate a portion of the Richard B. Harrison School on Noble Street to create the Harrison Center for Active Aging.
