The Town of Smithfield has purchased two trucks, one for the Water and Sewer Department and the other for the Electric Department.
The Town had budgeted $35,000 for a new work truck for the Water and Sewer Department. Deacon Jones in Smithfield was the low bidder at $31,899. J&M Chevrolet bid $34,078 and Dan Wise Chevrolet $40,603. Deacon Jones was awarded the purchase contract
Capital Ford was the lowest bidder on a four wheel drive pickup for the Electric Superintendent. The low bid from Capital Ford was $29,603. Deacon Jones had bid $30,498 and Kenly Ford $31,000.
Funds for the trucks are included in the town’s 2015-16 fiscal year budget.
