Town Of Smithfield Coronavirus Update

Citizens Encouraged To Use Alternate Means Of Paying Bills

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Town of Smithfield is encouraging anyone needing to make a payment to do one of the following to assist us in preventing illness to yourselves and our employees:

  1. Make your payment online at smithfield-nc.com. Click on the “Pay Utility” icon on the homepage.
  2. Place your payment in one of the two drop boxes outside, either the drop box attached to the building at the rear entrance OR in the parking lot. If you are paying with CASH, we ask that you please use the drop box attached to the building at the rear entrance of Town Hall at 350 East Market Street.
  3. Call in your payment to 1-855-603-9197 (credit/debit payments only).

Payments received in either drop box before 5pm will be processed for the date the payment was received.

We are still open, at the present time, if you need to come in and make a payment or have other business to do with the town.

Work from Home for Non-Essential Personnel

Non-essential personnel identified by supervisors will be working from home until further notice. This could cause some delays in answering questions or concerns from citizens. We ask that you be patient with us during this process.

This is a very fluid situation and more changes may be necessary as we receive guidance from federal and state authorities and at the direction from Town Council and our Town Manager. Please know that the safety and well-being of each of our citizens, businesses, and employees are our top priority.
