Downtown Benson businesses are blooming this spring! In the last 12 months, business owners and visitors have reported increased foot traffic in the heart of downtown. In light of the increased foot traffic, the Town of Benson started testing crosswalk signs this week for pedestrian safety. These signs remind drivers that yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks is the law in North Carolina.
With warm weather, more people are exercising outside and shopping downtown.
Pedestrians are urged to utilize safety first and always look both ways before crossing the street. Remember to hold your child’s hand as you cross the street, and always cross at marked crosswalks.
Drivers are encouraged to be aware of increased pedestrian traffic during the spring and summer months and observe the posted speed limit.
