KENLY – A northbound tractor trailer hauling clothing products for Target Stores burst into flames on Interstate 95, near Kenly, around 4:00am Friday.

Two co-drivers were forced to quickly exit the cab of the semi when the flames nearly engulfed the front of the truck.

Kenly and Micro firefighters fought the fire and the North Carolina Department of Transportation provided a trackhoe to gain access to the smoldering cargo.

Traffic was routed off the interstate at the southbound exit 105 in Kenly then immediately back onto the interstate on the north side of the exit.

The fire was extinguished, debris removed, and the roadway completely reopened by 9:30am.
Thank God no one was injured.
