Tractor Trailer, Car Collide On US 70

Traffic was backed up on US 70 in Princeton Thursday morning after a car and tractor trailer collided near the entrance to Ormond’s convenience.

The collision occurred around 6:45 AM in the eastbound travel lanes.  The driver of the car was pinned in the wreckage for an extended period of time before being cut free by Princeton fire crews. The driver was then rushed to Wake Medical Center for treatment.

Eastbound lanes were brought to a crawl for nearly 90 minutes until the wreckage could be cleared and the travel lanes reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the NC Highway Patrol. Photos by John Payne
