Tractor Trailer Driver Charged With DWI

KENLY – A tractor trailer driver was taken into custody at the scene of a single vehicle accident Monday night and charged with driving while impaired and driving on a suspended license.   Around 8:30pm, the semi was traveling eastbound on Highway 42 East when it ran off the roadway and down an embankment.

The driver was not injured and no other vehicles were involved. He reportedly claimed to have swerved off the roadway to avoid a car with children in it that pulled in front of him.

Highway 42 was shut down in the area until 11:00pm until the tractor trailer could be removed by two large wreckers.

The State Highway Patrol, Antioch Fire Department and Johnston County EMS responded to the accident.
