A 2019 Peterbilt on its very first road trip ended up being totaled in a crash on Interstate 95 in Johnston County on Saturday.
The driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the 7:30am accident near the 88 mile marker in Four Oaks. Both were taken to Wake Medical Center.
The southbound truck drifted off I-95 into the center divider barrier then went off the right side of the roadway into the woods.
The driver, who had left Pennsylvania the night before, reportedly told troopers he fell asleep.
I-95 southbound traffic was reduced to one lane for about 7 hours while the wreckage was removed. Traffic was backed at times up to 5 miles before both southbound lanes could reopen.
