DUNN – A tractor trailer fire is causing major traffic delays on Interstate 95. Shortly after 10:00am today (Wednesday), a tractor trailer traveling northbound near the Hodge’s Chapel Road Exit (77 mile marker) burst into flames.
Fire units from Harnett and Johnston County responded to the scene to bring the fire under control.
The NC Department of Transportation also responded to clean up a diesel fuel spill from the semi.
Northbound lanes are not expected to fully reopen until this afternoon. Traffic is backed up for several miles.
Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route until the scene can be cleared later today. Southbound lanes remain open.
