Five rail cars on a CSX train jumped track Tuesday afternoon while traveling through Smithfield.
The minor derailment occurred around 12:30pm and was cleared about three hours later. The train blocked the Brogden Road and Lee Street crossings until the cars were placed back on the track and the train continued. There was no word on what caused the train cars to leave the track.
Johnston County Schools had to reroute several buses and traffic was rerouted during the incident.
