Senior Vice Commandant Bob Long of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment 1236 presented two Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Awards at a Court of Honor held on Monday, October 28th for Boy Scout Troop 210 of McGee’s Crossroads.
Liam Michael Popovic started his journey in scouting as a Tiger Cub with Pack 193 in Staten Island, New York. He steadily progressed through the ranks of Cub, Webelos, and finally a Boy Scout in Troop 6 in later years. When his family moved to Willow Spring, NC he continued his quest and ultimately earned his rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 210 at McGee’s Crossroads.
Liam was elected to join and passed his ordeal for membership in the Order of the Arrow which is the National Honor Society for the Boy Scouts of America. His Eagle Scout project involved building an outdoor community bulletin board. He has learned and gained leadership experience over the years as he has held positions such as Senior Patrol Leader and being a section leader with the West Johnston High School Marching Band.
Liam was also awarded the Superior Cadet award by his Commanding Officers in the United States Army Junior ROTC program at West Johnston High School. He is currently attending Wake Technical College and is pursuing a degree in Cyber Security and is planning to enter military service as an Officer after he completes his studies.
Isaac Drown has been dedicated to Scouting since he became a Cub Scout at age 5. While he was a Cub Scout, he earned every belt loop that was offered and achieved his Arrow of Light. Since 2015, Isaac has served his Troop through leadership roles such as Chaplain, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. Within the Order of the Arrow he served as Vice Chapter Chief of the Shar-RaR-Ren Chapter for 2018-2019 and is currently the Treasurer for Nayawin RaR Lodge.
Isaac attended National Youth Leadership Training in 2017 and has worked as a staff member for the training for the past two years. In addition, he has worked as a staff member for Cub Weekends in 2018 and 2019, a Wood Badge Youth Staff member in 2019 and enjoyed working on staff for the summer at Camp Tuscarora. He has worked to complete the mile swim 3 times, is a 50-miler in kayaking, and a two-time 50-miler in cycling.
Isaac was successful with his Eagle Board of Review in April 2019. This summer he attended the World Scout Jamboree at Summit Bechtel Reserve where he had the opportunity to fellowship with Scouts from 149 different countries. Isaac is a sophomore at West Johnston High School where he is a member of the West Johnston Swim Team, Marching Band, the Jazz Ensemble, Winds Ensemble, FFA and is a Wildcat Ambassador.
