On Sunday, November 24th an Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at Trinity Church of God of Prophecy in Kenly for Eagle Scout Chadwick James Linton Jr. of Boy Scout Troop 29 of Kenly.
Chadwick started Scouting as a Tiger Cub in Cub Scout Pack 29. He learned about Scouts from his school and was instantly interested. Chadwick climbed up through each rank and after 6 years, Chadwick joined the Boy Scouts in Troop 29. He worked hard and had fun camping and doing different activities with his Troop and before he knew it, Chadwick was walking out of his Eagle Board of Review with his goal reached on June 6th, 2019.
For his Eagle Scout project, Chadwick wanted to do something that would honor the people that he looked up to and who helped protect the freedoms of American history. He updated an existing Veteran Monument at a local Kenly cemetery. He replaced the existing rock and border and added 6 plaques for each branch of the military, and one for POW (Prisoners of War).
In his Troop, Chadwick has held multiple leadership roles, from Patrol Leader to Senior Patrol Leader. He currently is a senior at North Johnston High School. After graduation he plans to join the Air Force.
During his Eagle Scout Court of Honor, Chadwick was presented with the Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from Commandant William Dunn on behalf of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment 1236.
