Troop 33’s Ian Davidson Receives Eagle Scout

On February 24th, an Eagle Scout Ceremony was held for Eagle Scout Ian Kirksey Davidson from Boy Scout Troop 33 of Clayton.

Ian is currently the Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 33. He has also held the positions of Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Troop Librarian, Troop Scribe, Troop Quartermaster, Order of the Arrow Representative, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, and Chaplain’s Aid. He is heavily active in his OA Lodge and is currently the Lodge Treasurer.

Ian has previously served as Chapter Secretary, Committee Chairman, and a Ceremonialist within the Shaw Rar Ren Lodge. He has attended NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) and NOAC (National Order of the Arrow Conference) leadership training and is planning to attend NAYLE (National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience) last summer. He has attended the National Jamboree as well as OA High Adventure programs at the Betchel Summit in West Virginia and Florida Sea Base. He hopes to complete the Boy Scouts of America Grand Slam Award by attending OA High Adventure programs at Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico and North Tier National Scout Reservations.

During his Eagle Scout Ceremony at Oakland Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Ian was presented with the Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from the Marine Corps League Department of North Carolina Assistant Eagle Scout Coordinator Devell “Bull” Durham Jr. (right) and the Johnston County Marine Corps League Senior Vice Commandant Bill Dunn (left).

Ian plans to complete an Associates of Business Degree at Johnston Community College, then attend the Culinary Program at Wake Tech with a goal to study at the Culinary Institute of America. He would like to open his own restaurant one day. He is the son of Kirk and Karen Davidson of Smithfield.
