A state trooper detained a vandalism suspect Wednesday until deputies could arrive on the scene.
On Wednesday, a state trooper was on patrol at the I-95 Rest Area just north of Selma when he was flagged down by a rest stop employee. The employee said a person inside the facility was vandalizing state owned vending machines.
The trooper detained the suspect and contacted deputies who arrived a short time later.
Jamie Lee Ray, 29, of Partridge Drive, Smithfield was charged with injury to property. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail where his bond was set at $2,000.
