An ATV accident early Monday morning has claimed one life.
It happened just at 12:06am on Old Kenly Road in the Nahunta community. Two ATV’s were racing side by side when a four wheeler driven by William C. Kearney, 47, of Old Kenly Road NW, Pikeville struck the second four wheeler driven by Delbert Bohlander, 29, of Pikeville. Both operators were ejected and injured.
Kearney was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he died. Bohnlander was not seriously injured.
Wayne County Highway Patrol First Sgt. G.L. Burton Jr. said speed, reckless driving and alcohol are believed to be factors.
Charges against Bohlander have not been ruled out. Photos by John Payne
