Johnston County Teen Identified As One Of Two People Killed In Sampson County Traffic Accident

SAMPSON COUNTY – Two people were killed in a single vehicle accident Sunday night near Clinton. The accident was reported at 10:02pm on Reedsford Road near Byrd-Yancey-Bass Road.

The Highway Patrol said Angel Moises Bonilla Garcia, age 22, of Clinton was operating a 2013 Hyundai passenger car westbound at a high rate of speed. The Hyundai traveled off the roadway where it collided with a mailbox and two trees. The car came to rest partially in the roadway.

Garcia and a front seat passenger, Daniel Vasquez Gonzales, age 17, of McLamb Road, Dunn, (a Johnston County address), died upon impact.

Garcia was not wearing a seat belt. Gonzales was properly restrained.

Troopers said reckless driving and speed were contributing factors.
