The NC Highway Patrol has released the name of a man found dead next to his overturned moped alongside a Johnston County highway. The accident was reported at 5:36AM Monday on Packing Plant Road south of Smithfield.
Troopers said 58 year-old Ruben A. Ybarra of Raleigh Road, Benson was traveling eastbound on Packing Plant Road on his moped when he ran off the road to the right and was ejected onto the ground. Ybarra died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
This afternoon (Wednesday), the Johnston County Medical Examiner said the accident was caused by a medical condition. The death was ruled due to natural causes.
