Troopers Seek Witnesses To Serious Hit And Run Crash

The NC Highway Patrol wants to speak with the driver of a minivan and pickup truck shown in these photos. The drivers are believed to be possible witnesses to a hit and run accident Monday at 6:22pm on Elevation Road near Four Oaks that critically injured a Benson man riding his motorcycle.

Crash Near Four Oaks Critically Injured Benson Man Riding Motorcycle

A Benson man was critically injured after his motorcycle was struck by a hit and run driver Monday afternoon near Four Oaks.

Emergency crews responded to the 6:22pm crash on Elevation Road near Gum Swamp Road outside the Four Oaks city limits.  A witness heard the collision and noticed a vehicle speeding away westbound on Elevation Road.  The witness said it sounded like two vehicles were involved in the collision.  Neither remained at the scene.

The Highway Patrol said it appears Bobby Locklear of Benson was operating his motorcycle on Elevation Road when he was rear-ended.  It caused him to lose control of his motorcycle and crash. Locklear sustained critical injuries and was transported to Wake Medical Center

A motorist who arrived on the scene about 2 minutes after the crash had a dash camera on their vehicle.  The camera captured images of a minivan and pickup truck that may have witnessed the crash.  Troopers want to identify the possible witnesses to see if they have any information about the hit and run vehicle.  The drivers of the two vehicles are believed to be possible witnesses and not persons of interest in the crash.
