Search For New Director Continues
SMITHFIELD – In a unanimous vote, the Smithfield Town Council appointed two people to the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) Board of Directors.
Carter Jones and Bill Johnson were appointed. Mr. Jones is an attorney with Narron Wenzel, P.A. and Mr. Johnson is the owner and operator of the Howell Theatre.
During the Feb. 6 meeting, Town Manager Mike Scott updated the council on the hiring of a new DSDC director. He said the list of candidates had been narrowed to three finalists.
Councilman Travis Scott said he wanted to make sure the DSDC board followed open meeting laws and be transparent with the use of taxpayer money. Councilman Scott added that the DSDC board needed to do a better job of publishing meeting dates and times.
