During the month of June, two Benson Police Department officers have been recognized for notable achievements.
Sergeant Danny Lucas was awarded the Johnston County Officer of the Month by the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office, and Captain Greg Percy graduated from the most recent session of Leadership Johnston.
Sergeant Lucas was recognized on June 10th as the May 2015 Johnston County Law Enforcement Officer of the Month by District Attorney Susan Doyle. The Law Enforcement Officer of the Month is a program to recognize and thank local law enforcement officers by publicly honoring them for their invaluable work in protecting the communities and citizens of Johnston County.
Captain Percy attended the 2014-15 session of Leadership Johnston, which is a nine-month leadership development program that is sponsored by Johnston Community College and the Johnston County Association of Chambers of Commerce. The program is designed to enhance the leadership skills so that the participants can then use these skills to help them be more productive leaders in the workplace, and to encourage active civic leadership as volunteers, volunteer leaders, and holders of public office.
Captain Percy graduated from the program on June 3rd along with seventeen classmates.
Sergeant Lucas is a twelve-year veteran and Captain Percy is a seventeen-year veteran of the Benson Police Department.
