Local law enforcement agencies are investigating two fatal house fires.
Around 3:10am Monday, Wake County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Newcomb Street near Apex to assist the fire department with a house fire. A body was discovered inside the burning home. The Wake County Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting.
The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office was called to a house fire on Irwin Road outside of Autryville around 8:30pm Sunday. Seven fire departments battled the blaze. A body, believed to be the resident of the home, was discovered after the fire was extinguished. The NC SBI and Sampson County Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting with the investigation. Authorities do not suspect foul play. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The names of the victims in the Wake and Sampson County house fires was withheld pending positive identification and notification of family members.
