Two seniors in Johnston County Public Schools have been named 2019 Coca Cola Semifinalists.
The semifinalists are Miracle Holder of Cleveland High School and Keanan Larsen of Princeton High School. Miracle is the daughter of Devoise and Centora Holder of Smithfield. Keanan is the son of Toni Larsen of Smithfield.
The Coca Cola Scholars Foundation selected 1,896 students from over 95,000 submitted applications from across the country to continue through the selection process. The semifinalists are submitting applications to be reviewed by the Program Reading Committee in January. After this review, 250 Semifinalists will advance as Regional Finalists, with 150 becoming Coca-Cola Scholars.
The Coca-Cola scholarship is valued at $20,000 and finalists are well-rounded, bright students who not only excel academically, but are also actively involved in their schools. These leaders are passionate and service-oriented, and demonstrate a sustained commitment to bettering their community.
Congratulations and good luck to Miracle and Keenan as they move forward in the scholarship competition.
