Two Injured In Smithfield Collision

Two people were sent to the hospital following a two vehicle accident Monday morning on N. Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield.   The crash happened at 10:15am in front of Pine Needle Shopping Center.

According to Smithfield Police, a 2005 Chevy Tahoe driven by Amanda Louise Michael of Highway 96 South, Four Oaks was attempting to leave the shopping center and travel northbound on N. Brightleaf Boulevard but pulled into the path of a southbound 2000 Buick operated by Betty Louise Holloman of Rains Crossroads Road, Princeton.  Holloman and a front seat passenger, Harold Ray Holloman, of the same address, were transported to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for non-life threatening injuries.   Michael was not injured.

Police and first responders temporarily closed both southbound lanes until the accident could be cleared.

Officer M.A. Jernigan cited Michael for a safe movement violation.

Damage to the Chevy was estimated at $3,000. Police estimated damage to the Buick at $3,000. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.  JoCoReport.com Photos
