Two Injured in Smithfield Hit-and-Run Crash
SMITHFIELD – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left two people injured Saturday afternoon in Smithfield.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 3:59 p.m. on November 1 at the intersection of Outlet Center Drive and North Equity Drive.
According to police, a 2018 Dodge SUV was traveling on Outlet Center Drive when it was struck by a silver 2007 Honda Ridgeline attempting to turn onto the roadway from North Equity Drive.
The driver of the Honda reportedly fled the scene without stopping.
The driver and passenger of the Dodge were both injured in the crash. The driver was transported by Johnston County EMS to Johnston Health in Smithfield for treatment of minor injuries. The passenger was treated at the scene.
Investigators later obtained the license plate number of the suspect vehicle. At last report police had not been able to speak with the owner of the vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation by Smithfield Police.
