Two Patrol Cars Damaged During High Speed Chase
Two patrol cars belonging to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office were damaged during a high speed chase this afternoon (Monday).
A Johnston County SAFE Team deputy stopped a car for speeding 90mph in a 55mph zone on Highway 70 Business near Smithfield. During the traffic stop the driver sped away and a pursuit was initiated. The chase continued eastbound on Highway 70.
Near the intersection of Highway 70 and 70-A in Princeton the suspect attempted to make a turn but was traveling too fast and collided with a ditch. The driver was arrested without further incident.
Authorities said the pursuit reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. No injuries were reported.
