Two People Killed In High Speed Crash

SAMPSON COUNTY – Two people died in a single vehicle accident in Sampson County. The State Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at 7:47pm Wednesday in the 5300 block of Boykin Bridge Road near Clinton.

Troopers said a 2011 Porsche passenger car was traveling east at a high rate of speed and ran off the roadway on the right shoulder.

The driver overcorrected, reentered the roadway, crossed the centerline, ran off the road on the left shoulder, and struck a ditch and tree. After impact, the Porsche caught fire and burned.

The Highway Patrol identified the driver as Sergio Cesar Nerilopez, 42, of Salemburg and the passenger as Evelin Yaneris Hernandez Reyes, 23, of Clinton, NC. Both died at the scene.

Speed and reckless driving are believed to be factors, the SHP said.
