CLAYTON – Police are investigating an early morning shooting in the Clayton city limits. Around 3:00am today (Tuesday), officers were dispatched to a gunshot victim in the vicinity of Pond Street and Durham Street.
A short time later, Clayton officers responded to an additional call of a gunshot victim on Joyner Street.
Officers located a 14 year-old male juvenile with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh where he remains in serious condition.
The other victim, identified as Andrea Joi Bailey, 28, of Raleigh sustained a gunshot wound to the hip. She was also transported to Wake Medical Center.
Clayton Police officers were able to identify a residence in the 900 block of Pond Street as the location that the shooting occurred.
Detectives executed a search warrant at this residence and conducted a crime scene search.
Police said the shooting appeared to have occurred inside the residence and detectives are continuing to collect evidence and identify and interview witnesses.
Police said this does not appear to be a random incident.
Durham Street….nothing good comes from Durham anything.
