Two Separate Collisions Temporarily Close Highway 301

FOUR OAKS – Two separate accidents closed a section of Highway 301 just north of Four Oaks Tuesday afternoon.   The first accident occurred around 1:00pm when a truck ran off the roadway and overturned.  Two occupants in the truck were shaken but they declined transport to the hospital.

About an hour later, which traffic was stopped for the first collision, a second accident occurred.  A white Ford truck headed northbound on Highway 301 had stopped for traffic ahead. The truck was rear-ended by a passenger car.  One person in each vehicle was injured and transported to the hospital. The injuries were not life threatening.

Four Oaks Police are investigating both accidents. The Four Oaks Fire Department assisted with traffic control.   Johnston County EMS and Four Oaks EMS also responded.

Highway 301 was fully reopened around 3:00pm this afternoon.
