Two Suspects Rob Convenience Store

Police need the public’s help identifying two men who robbed the Speedway gas station and convenience store Saturday morning. The store is located at 8060 US70 Business West at Powhatan Road.

Around 1 a.m., two men walked in through the front door wearing hoods and face masks. One of the men was carrying a handgun, possibly a BB gun since the clerk described it having an orange tip.

The clerk was the only one in the store at the time. The men asked her to open the cash drawer and they took an undisclosed amount of money.

They then ran out of the store to a nearby storage rental facility and she called 911. The clerk was unharmed.

Clayton Police along with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded with officers, detectives and a K9 unit, but the two men could not be tracked down.

The first suspect is a black male in his mid to late-20s, 5 foot 11, medium build wearing a black hoodie, grey pajama pants, black shoes and a black mask. The suspect was carrying a handgun or BB gun.

The second suspect is a black male in his mid to late-20s, 5 foot 11, small build, wearing a camo jacket, purple pajama pants with stars or constellations, black shoes, and a red bandana over his face.

Detectives are checking the store and storage unit’s outside surveillance cameras for more information about the getaway.

If anyone saw anything in the area of the Speedway around 1 a.m. Saturday or recognizes these two men, you are asked to contact Clayton Police Detective Colonel Kilpatrick at 919-553-4611.
