The State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious two vehicle accident that temporarily closed Cleveland Road. The accident was reported around 6:00pm Saturday at Cleveland and Polenta Roads.
A pickup truck and passenger car collided at the intersection. After the impact the car traveled off the roadway into a small group of trees before stopping.
Three people in the car, including a child, were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. One person who was pinned inside the car had to be extricated by personnel from the Cleveland Fire Department. The occupants in the pickup sustained minor injuries.
Several Johnston County EMS ambulances responded to the scene.
