Tinder dry conditions and high temperatures contributed to two simultaneous woods fires in the Thanksgiving Fire District on Monday afternoon.
The first fire was at the building site of a new Johnston County school on Lynch Road off Highway 42 where debris from the land clearing was burning.
A second fire was reported behind a home on Old Moore Road.
The Thanksgiving Fire Department and the NC Forest Service responded to both fires. Two fire plows were called to the County to contain the smoky fires. Approximately two acres burned.
No injuries were reported.
