Tyndall Takes Oath As Smithfield Police Officer

Officer Angie Tyndall received her Oath as a Smithfield Police Officer during the Nov. 12th meeting of the Smithfield Town Council. Mayor Pro Tem Travis Scott administered the Oath.

Officer Tyndall was born in Smithfield and grew up in Johnston County. She joined the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office in 1998 working in the jail. In 2002 she moved to Wilmington and continued her career with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office starting in the jail.  Tyndall eventually worked her way up to the Detectives Division as a Major Crimes / Homicide Detective.

In 2018, Officer Tyndall said she lost her father to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s) disease and her home to Hurricane Florence. Months later, and while in the process of rebuilding her residence, a tree fell through the house.  She then decided it was time to come back home.

“Returning home and working with the Smithfield Police Department has been my shining light at the end of the tunnel and I’m so happy to be returning home and honored to be working for the Smithfield Police Department.”

Officer Tyndall has been assigned to the Patrol Division to fill a vacancy.
