SMITHFIELD – A gasoline spill was reported Thursday afternoon at Murphy Express on N. Brightleaf Boulevard.
A leaky gas tank on a U-Haul truck reportedly caused approximately 25 gallons of fuel to spill. The driver said he had just placed fuel in the tank.
Some of the gasoline flowed into a storm drain before it could be contained by the Smithfield Fire Department.
Johnston County Emergency Management sent a representative to the scene. The truck had to be towed away.
No injuries were reported.
