The State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death of a former Wayne County mayor as a homicide.
The body of former Fremont Mayor Floyd Anthony “Andy” Evans was found around 1:20pm Saturday at one of his properties at 129 Evans Farm Road near Fremont. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office notified the State Bureau of Investigation for assistance with the death investigation.
On Monday, the medical examiner completed an autopsy on Mr. Evans and determined he died as a result of a gunshot wound and that he was the victim of a homicide.

To maintain the integrity of the investigation, authorities announced Monday evening that no further information would be released at this time.
