WAYNE COUNTY – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office confirmed today (Wednesday), human remains discovered November 27 by a volunteer search team in the 400 block of Billy Price Road are those of a missing person.
The sheriff’s office said they were notified by the NC Medical Examiner’s Office the human remains have been positively identified as 25 year-old Gabriel Brody Carter. Authorities had been searching for Carter since he was reported missing on October 21, 2022 by his mother.
Carter was last seen on October 20, 2022 on Billy Price Road near Vann Smith Road. Carter, who is a severe diabetic, was wanted on felony probation charges at the time he disappeared.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department did NOTHING to find my nephew. This article contains false information.
It was not until the family and friends of Brody began to bring negative attention to the Sheriff’s Department’s lack of response that they then wanted to get involved.
I am disgusted that this site would even talk about a felony, when no media outlet would even help in trying to put the word out that he was missing.
Do not be surprised if a law suit is not brought up against the Sheriff’s department, the parole officer that did nothing as well, and any inaccurate reports such as this.
Praying for you and your family during this time. Hope you can get justice for you nephew as well.
I was thinking the same thing a felony should not even be mentioned in a tragic thing like this.
Well!, they got involved but only to make their selves look good. This is so wrong. What has a felony got to do with a missing person. Praying for you and your family. God Bless you.
I am disappointed that information was even mentioned!! What does that have to do with helping this young man. Less Politics and more human actions are required!! so very sorry for the hardship and loss of life for your family. God bless your family.
He must have been carrying a great burden. Hopefully his God has given him peace. Condolences to the family.
