The eastbound lane on the US 70 Business Bridge over Interstate 95 in Smithfield (Exit 95) reopened to traffic at 2:00pm this afternoon (Tuesday). The eastbound lane over the bridge had been closed for repairs since November 21st when a tractor trailer traveling on I-95 hit and severely damaged one of the bridge’s concrete supports.
The westbound lane over the bridge remained open during the repair work. A contractor completed the repairs ahead of schedule.
The NC DOT estimates the repair cost at approximately $100,000.
